Five Nights at Freddy's star Josh Hutcherson says the second Freddy-themed movie is "bigger" and "scary" than the first. In an interview, Hutcherson talked about "higher stakes" and hinted that there will be "more" and "different" animatronics, and that Freddy's world will "expand in a huge way." “We’re finding that balance right now of building this world and expanding it in a really cool way, but also making sure that the characters remain very real,” Hutcherson said. “That’s something we really struggled with in the first movie because this world that was created in Five Nights at Freddy’s is so bizarre.” "In a way, it's so exaggerated and so wacky, finding the emotional truth of the character is what's going to work. I think the fans are going to go crazy for it. It's going to be really fun to have that source. It's actually going to be scarier, too." Speaking about how much he enjoys working in a Freddy-centric world, Hutcherson said the "possibilities are endless" for his character Mike. Does this mean a third movie could be on the way? Hutcherson teased, "It could have a long potential and it would be fun, but right now we're focused on the second movie. We'll see what happens after that." Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions announced the sequel at CinemaCon in April. When Five Nights at Freddy's was released, it became the second-highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time in the United States, behind only Nintendo's animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie. |
