The hit TV series "Sweeping Dark Storm" has exceeded 4 billion views, and it has been less than a week since it broke 3 billion views.

Although it is extremely popular, Tencent Video's advanced on-demand strategy has been criticized by many users. Previously, Weibo CEO Wang Gaofei wrote that Tencent Video's "Sweeping Dark Storm" advanced on-demand must be paid once a day. Can't it be paid once and watched every day?

The Shanghai Consumer Council believes that since Tencent Video’s advanced on-demand service is charged on a per-episode basis, consumers have the right to choose the episode they want to watch. The so-called “unlock and watch in sequence” is suspected of bundled sales and disregards consumers’ right to choose.

On September 1, Tencent Video released a statement on optimizing the advanced on-demand service, saying that in order to improve the user experience, Tencent Video will adjust the unlocking rules as soon as possible to support users to unlock selected episodes.

The Shanghai Consumer Council responded by expressing support for Tencent Video’s promised improvements, and hoped that other platforms with similar situations would also actively follow up, such as Youku, iQiyi, etc.

"Sweeping Dark Storm" is directed by Wu Bai and co-directed by Wang Siyang, starring Sun Honglei, Zhang Yixing, Liu Yijun, Wu Yue, Wang Zhifei, Liu Zhibing, Wu Xiaoliang, with Jiang Shuying making a special appearance.

It is reported that "Sweeping Dark Storm" is exclusively broadcast on Tencent Video, with one episode updated every Monday to Saturday at 22:00, and members can watch four episodes in advance at 20:00; from 20:00 on August 19, members will enjoy the privilege of advanced on-demand viewing and watch more episodes in advance every day.
