The Halo TV series is scheduled to be broadcast in 2022. Recently, the cross-media director of Halo gave a brief introduction to the goals and effects of the TV series. Kiki Wolfkill, director of cross-media at 343 Industries, recently told IGN about the biggest challenge facing the Halo TV series during its adaptation process, which was how to best present the story of the Master Chief in a non-interactive way. Wolfkill said: "The biggest challenge of adapting this game may be that the design in the game allows players to play the Master Chief themselves, while in the TV series, players can only watch from the sidelines. We must present a Master Chief that players cannot control." We don't know much about the Halo TV show yet, but Wolfkill has previously discussed that the story of Halo is limited to the games, while in the TV show, they can expand the story and develop it from multiple characters and plot points. “In a first-person shooter, we can only show the journey of one character because the game wants to maintain the emotions that the player has invested in that character,” she said. “But a TV series can depict the characters and the plot from an angle that is difficult to show in an FPS game.” "Hopefully, you can play the game, get to know the characters, and then you can stop and go off and have a different experience from the TV show and go on another journey. That way you can see these characters from a different perspective without feeling like the TV show is interfering with the perspective you've already established in the game." Pablo Schreiber, who starred in "Orange Is the New Black", will play the Master Chief in "Halo", Natascha McElhone, who starred in "Californication", will play Dr. Halsey, and Cortana will still be voiced by Jane Taylor, the voice actor in the game. Wolfkill also said she felt an obligation to the fans of Halo to deliver a good TV show, and she talked about her progress and how she didn't have time to panic about what might go wrong. She explains: “For me, the most important thing is to focus on what we need to do, what we want to present and why. The why is very important. For TV series, we want to do something new, we want to give the audience a different experience, and this is a responsibility. It is a personal drive to want to create great work. You need to put things together and there is no time to panic. In the end, it becomes a matter of energy management. This energy needs to go straight to the finish line to create great work.” The Halo TV series will premiere in 2022. The game Halo: Infinite will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S this year, and the first round of public testing is now underway. |
