The sequel to "Waterworld" is being planned and may be broadcast on the Peacock platform

According to film and television media Collider today (July 30), producers John Davis and John Fox are planning to shoot the "Waterworld" TV series, the story of which will be set twenty years after the plot of the movie.

Producer Davis said in an interview with Collider: "We will make a TV version of "Waterworld", which is a sequel to the movie." The background of the movie is the world in 2500, the sea level rises, and the whole planet is covered by water. Costner plays a character called Sailor, who has evolved gills and webbed feet. He can roam freely in the ocean and make a living by diving to the bottom of the sea to dig and sell mud. After the protagonist finds a young girl with a map of land tattooed on her back, he begins to protect her from harm and search for the land with her.

The team is currently producing the series at Universal Pictures, which may eventually be broadcast on Peacock, Universal's streaming platform.
