Dreaming Toppo Gigio - Detailed Review and Recommendation

"Topo Gigio," which aired in 1988, is a TV anime series based on the original work by Maria Perego and co-produced by Nippon Animation, TV Tokyo, and Trans Arts. This work is a sequel to "Topo Gigio," and introduced new characters, providing viewers with fresh surprises and excitement. It aired for a total of 13 episodes from October 7 to December 30, 1988, in a 30-minute slot every Friday from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The story begins when Jijo's friend Gina's father returns from a voyage after a year. While Gina and her mother are having a blast, Holly, a sailor mouse, appears as a bonus for her father. Holly is a manly and intimidating presence to Jijo, and Jijo prepares himself not to be defeated, but Holly makes an unexpected proposal to Jijo. This encounter is a major turning point in the story, and the friendship and adventures of Jijo and Holly are depicted.

Although the production station for "Dreaming Toppo Jijo" was changed from Asahi to TV Tokyo, the series continued to be produced as it was, as can be seen from the broadcast dates. Behind this is the strong will of the production team and the love for the viewers. The director is Noboru Ishiguro, and his unique direction and character design give the work depth. The music is by Nobuyoshi Koshibe, and the theme song "Tango Chu Chu" and the ending theme "Dreaming Toppo Jijo" are written by Kayoko Fuyuto, composed by Koichi Morita, arranged by Hiroshi Takada, and sung by Tomoko Yamano. The powerful chorus by Korogi 73' is also impressive, making it a song that resonates with the hearts of viewers.

The cast includes a stellar cast of voice actors, including Takashi Nakao as Jijo, Satoko Yamano as Gina, Yoshiko Fujita as Amelia, Naoko Kyoda as Knopp, Yuko Mizutani as Mimi, Kenichi Ogata as Kurt, Naoki Tatsuta as Alo, Nobuyuki Furuta as Bracchio, Daisuke Gori as Megalon, Kenichi Ono as Pierre, and Minoru Yada as Arnor. Their performances bring out the individuality of the characters and enrich the story.

The main staff includes producer Koichi Motohashi, production manager Mitsuru Takakuwa, planner Shoji Sato, music composer Nobuyoshi Koshibe, directors Shigeo Koshi, Masato Kitagawa, Eikichi Ogika, Tsunagi Omachi, and Eiji Imanari, producer Shoji Sato, scriptwriters Tomotake Tadaki, Takashi Hayashi, Rino Wada, Taku Sugiyama, and Asami Watanabe, character designer Susumu Shiraume, and animation director Minoru Kibata. , Sugimitsu Noboru, Yusa Kazue, Ishino Hirokazu, Koizumi Kenzo, art director Kawamoto Seihei, cinematographer Morita Toshiaki, sound director Tanaka Hideyuki, colorists Kariya Hiromi, Kitagawa Akemi, Sato Makiko, Shimakata Ayako, animation checkers Tanibata Tetsuji, Otomo Kenichi, Kodama Yaeko, Maeda Tatsuyoshi, animation directors Hayashi Kazuya, Oshima Rie, Sakai Shunichi, Kojima Masashi, Sakaguchi Reishu , Ryuichi Oya, Tetsuji Tanibata, finishing touches by Makiko Sato, Terumi Otsuka, Yurie Takahashi, Ayako Shimakata, backgrounds by Atelier Roke and Studio Aqua, photography by Trans Arts, recording and production by Audio Visual Systems, mixer Chiaki Sato, effects by Yutaka Chiba, recording studio Abaco Studio, developing lab by Tokyo Development Lab, titles by Akira Michikawa, editors Yoshihiro Kasahara, Shinichi Natori, Masato Nakamura, Hidetoshi Kamitono, storyboard artists Shigeo Koshi, Masato Kitagawa, Eikichi Oshika, Tsunagi Omachi, Eiji Imanari, assistant directors Nobuo Shirahata, Satoshi Kimura, Eiji Imanari, Satoshi Jinbo, production desk staff Yasuhiro Tasaki, Hata Azumichi, production associates Nobuo Kuramoto, Hitoshi Kuramoto, Satoshi Jinbo, Tadayuki Takasugi, Akira Hamanaka, Kei Yonamine, Shuichi Okada. Their efforts and talents supported "Dreaming of Toppo Gigio" and made it a work beloved by audiences.

The subtitles for each episode are diverse and sure to pique the interest of viewers, including "Holly from the Sea," "We Are the Martial Arts Troop," "The Story of Rolo and Juju," "George Goes Missing," "The Dog Who Can See the Future," "The Scary Rat Curse," "The Kind Lion," "Donuts, Robots," "Gina Goes Blonde," "I Hate the Cold," "I'm the Star!," "Christmas Gift," and "Park." In particular, in "Holly from the Sea," Holly's appearance foreshadows a new development in the story, while "Christmas Gift" depicts a warm Christmas atmosphere that warms the hearts of viewers. In "Park," the friendship between Holly and the dog Pak is portrayed in a moving way, deeply affecting viewers.

"Toppo Gigio Dreams" is closely related to "Topo Gigio" and is a work that fans cannot miss. The new adventures of Gigio, Gina and others were depicted with the new character Holly at the center, providing new excitement and surprises to viewers. There were many changes, such as a change in production company and the appearance of new characters, but these only increased the appeal of the work and made it a beloved work by viewers.

The reasons why I recommend this work are as follows. First, the story is very fascinating, and the friendship and adventures of Gigio and Holly will capture the hearts of viewers. In addition, the luxurious cast and staff are not to be missed. In particular, the direction and character design of director Ishiguro Noboru raise the quality of the work, and the music and theme song also resonate with the hearts of viewers. Furthermore, the subtitles of each episode are diverse, and the content will attract the interest of viewers. Finally, it is deeply related to "Topo Gigio," making it a work that fans cannot miss. For these reasons, "Dreaming of Topo Gigio" is a work that can be recommended to all viewers.
