The TV anime series "Saint October", which aired in 2007, captivated many viewers with its detective story featuring girls dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion. The work is an original anime, with the original idea created by Shogo Kumasaka of Konami Digital Entertainment. It was directed by Masafumi Sato, animated by Studio Comet, and produced by Konami Digital Entertainment. The series aired from January 5th to June 29th, 2007, with all 26 episodes broadcast on UHF and AT-X.

story

"Saint October" is set in a magical city where mysterious incidents that cannot be explained by science occur one after another. A group of girl detectives with special powers are gathered there and form the Gothic Lolita Girl Detectives. The protagonist is Hayama Kotono, a 14-year-old orphan who lives in a convent. Together with her classmate and idol Shirafuji Natsuki, and Hijiri Misaki, a mysterious girl who fights against the nightmares of her past life, she solves strange incidents. The story begins when Kotono and her friends meet a boy named Yuan who has lost his memory. They gradually find themselves facing a great destiny.

The appeal of this work is the stylish action of girls dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion. In addition, the enemy characters were designed by okama, who also worked on "Moon Rabbit Weapon Mina", creating a unique worldview.

character

The main characters of "Saint October" are the three members of the Gothic Lolita Girl Detectives Club: Kotono Hayama, Natsuki Shirafuji, and Misaki Hijiri. Each has different abilities and is portrayed as a unique character.

Hayama Kotono is a leader who can transform into a "Dark Lolita" with the power of "Justice" given to her by Yuan. Although she is cheerful and has a strong sense of justice, she is often scolded by her homeroom teacher, Tsubaki, for her lack of composure. She is a girl who is dependent on Father Joshua and is completely unable to do housework, but she is the only one who has the ability of "JUDGEMENT" and can judge those who are going down the wrong path.

Shirafuji Natsuki is a girl who can transform into a "White Lolita" with the power of the "Moon" given to her by Yuan, following Kotono. She is good at making slightly unusual inventions, and although she was isolated due to her noble background, she cherishes her friendship with Kotono. Although she can sometimes be naive and use harsh words, she is a cute girl who also has a kind side.

Hijiri Misaki is the third girl to be given the ability of "power" by Yuan. She is a transfer student who came to Arcana City for a "purpose", and dislikes getting along with others because she has done everything alone, but she actually wanted friends. While she has overwhelming physical abilities, she is also a scholarship student who is good at studying, and is a wild girl with a lot of survival experience.

In addition, many other unique characters appear, such as Father Joshua, Koshiro Kuroki, Ewan, Kurtz, Ash, and Sophia. The human drama they weave is also one of the charms of this work.
