Eureka Seven AO ASTRAL OCEAN - A journey into the depths of space

"Eureka Seven AO ASTRAL OCEAN" is a TV anime series that aired in 2012, and is an original anime work produced by BONES. This work is a sequel to the previous work "Eureka Seven", but it depicts a new story and characters. It consists of 24 episodes, each 30 minutes long, and was directed by Tomoki Kyoda.

story

The story is set in a future where mysterious objects called Scab Corals have appeared all over the world. The protagonist, Fukai Ao, is a boy who was raised by an old doctor named Toshio on Iwato Island in Okinawa. Ao's parents are missing, and he has lived his life suppressing his true self due to his complicated upbringing. However, one day he meets an IFO (Intelligent Flying Object) called Nirvash, and by learning about his destiny and abilities, he begins to take control of his life.

Ao's childhood friend, Arata Naru, is a sickly but strong-hearted girl who awakened to the powers of a yuta (a folk medium from the Okinawa region) after an accident 10 years ago. She admires the "sea giant" who protected her at the time of the accident. Ao's mother, Eureka, suddenly appeared on Iwato Island and gave birth to Ao, then was caught up in a Scav Burst and disappeared. She then appeared before Ao again, greatly changing his fate.

Ao's father, Renton, is Eureka's husband and a pilot of the Nirvash spec V3. A mysterious entity called "Truth" seeks the "truth of the world" and stands in Ao's way. Gazelle, the leader of the Gazelle Company, and his companions Pippo and Han Juno are also deeply involved in the story.

character

Fukai Ao (Honjo Yutaro) is a boy who grows up to be a Nirvash pilot. His growth and conflicts are at the center of the story. Arata Naru (Miyamoto Kanako) is Ao's childhood friend and the person who supports him. Eureka (Nazuka Kaori) is Ao's mother and an important character who holds the key to the story. Renton (Miki Shinichiro) is Ao's father and Eureka's husband. Truth (Inoue Kazuhiko) adds depth to the story as a mysterious presence.

Gazelle (Takuya Kirimoto), Pippo (Takayuki Sakai), and Han Juno (Keisuke Fujita), members of the Gazelle Company, support Ao on his journey and sometimes even come into conflict with him. Christophe Blanc (Rokuro Naya), the president of a private company called Generation Bleu, and his daughter, Flare Blanc (Ayaka Ohashi), also play important roles. Team Pied Piper's captain Ivica Tanovic (Tetsuo Goto), operations officer Rebecca Hallström (Chie Nakamura), and pilot Elena Peoples (Chiaki Omigawa) also add excitement to the story.

Mechanic

The mechanics of this game are centered around IFOs and FPs (Flying Platforms). IFOs are humanoid weapons developed using technology gained from investigating the Scav Coral, and Nirvash, Alleluia, Kyrie, and others appear. FPs are small aerial vehicles that use Trapar, and are used by Ao and Gazelle. In addition, an unknown entity called Secret appears with the Scav Coral and confronts the IFOs.

Nirvash is Ao's machine and is the origin of all IFOs. Alleluia is Flare Blanc's machine and is an IFO for electronic reconnaissance. Kyrie is Elena Peoples' machine and is an IFO for artillery battles. Each of these IFOs has a different role and adds excitement to the story.

The music for this series is by Nakamura Koji, and the theme songs and insert songs are also memorable. The opening theme "Escape" is sung by Hemenway, and the ending theme "stand by me" by Stereopony. The second season's opening theme "BlazBlue" is sung by FLOW, and the ending theme "Iolite" by joy.
