'Stranger Things' creators are developing a new supernatural Netflix series

A new supernatural suspense series from the Duffer brothers, creators of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things," is coming to Netflix. Titled "The Boroughs," the series will be written by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews ("The Dark Crystal," and will be produced by the Duffer brothers' Upside Down Picutures production company.

In the announcement, the Duffer brothers said: "We have long been fans of Jeffrey and Will's work, and when they approached us with the idea for The Boroughs, we knew immediately that they had hit upon something very special."

“Though the heroes of The Boroughs are a few years older than the kids in Stranger Things, they’re the same misfits with lovable personalities, and we can’t wait for you to join them on an adventure that’s by turns terrifying, funny, and touching.”

A few days ago, Netflix also announced an animated spinoff series of "Stranger Things". A stage play and an untitled live-action spinoff are also in the works.

The writers said: “We are thrilled to be returning to Netflix and working with the Duffer brothers (who are so great at making the series) and their team is a dream come true. They have found the perfect balance of moving and terrifying for our story. We can’t wait to share the dark mystery that lurks beneath The Boroughs’ sunny exterior with audiences around the world.”

Stranger Things Season 5 does not yet have a confirmed air date, but actor Noah Schnapp said filming will begin in May.
