"Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi" is a TV anime series that aired in 2018 and is based on a novel by Aoi Tomo. The main character, Aoi Tsubagi, is a female university student who inherited the power to see spirits from her late grandfather. One day, she is suddenly kidnapped by Tenjin-ya, a long-established inn in the hidden world where spirits live. There, she learns of the enormous debts her grandfather left behind and of the promise that she would marry the head of a demon god as payment for them. However, Aoi is not convinced and refuses the marriage, declaring that she will work at Tenjin-ya to repay her debts. This decision marks the beginning of her new life.

Aoi Tsubagi (CV: Nao Toyama) is a second-year university student who inherited the ability to see ayakashi from her grandfather. When she was young, she was abandoned by her mother and was saved by an ayakashi just as she was about to die of starvation. This experience led her to believe that she cannot leave hungry people or ayakashi alone. She is good at cooking and has a straightforward personality.

Odanna (CV: Katsuyuki Konishi) is a demon god who rules over Tenjin-ya, a land of evil spirits. He is a great demon who has lived for a long time, and is one of the eight leaves that govern the hidden world. His employees say that he is cold-hearted, cruel, and generous, but he has a refined manner and is carefree, and does not show his true feelings. He seems to have made a certain contract with Aoi's grandfather, Shiro, several decades ago, but the details are shrouded in mystery.

Ginji (CV: Toki Junichi) is also known as the inviting fox of Tenjinya, and is a nine-tailed fox who serves as the young master.
