"The Journey of Bell and Bud" surpasses "The Wind Rises" and ranks 10th in the Japanese anime box office

As of Tuesday, Makoto Shinkai's animated film "Suzuya's Journey" has grossed a total of 12.13 billion yen, with 9.13 million tickets sold. The film has been in theaters for nine weeks and ranked second at the box office last weekend. It is now the 27th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and the 10th highest-grossing animated film of all time, surpassing Studio Ghibli's "The Wind Rises". "Suzuya's Journey" is also the third highest-grossing domestic film of 2022.

This weekend, the film sold 281,000 tickets last weekend, earning 375 million yen.

Currently, Suzuya's Journey has grossed more than all Detective Conan movies, and has also surpassed Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End. Only Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, four Ghibli movies, two Makoto Shinkai movies, One Piece Film Red, and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 have surpassed it.
