The 1998 classic thriller "You're Next" is confirmed to be rebooted

The 1998 college thriller Urban Legend has been confirmed to be rebooted, this time focusing on the social media era and based on "urban legends connected to the darkest corners of social media."

The reboot of "You're Next" will be directed and written by Colin Minihan, director of "The Honey Show," and the script will once again focus on a group of college students, but this time the cast will be more diverse (the original film starred all white people).

The success of Wes Craven's Scream in 1996 sparked a revival of horror films, especially those focusing on teenagers or college students. Scream became a franchise, with Scream 2 in 1997 and Scream 3 in 2000. The best of the Scream parody craze at the time were I Know What You Did Last Summer and You're Next.

Directed by Jamie Blanks, You're Next is set on the campus of Pendleton College, an exclusive private school in New England.

Plot summary:

There is an urban legend circulating at Puget Sound University in New England, USA: 30 years ago, a professor of abnormal psychology on campus killed six students in Stanley Building and then committed suicide. Students in the fraternity on campus hold a rave party every year to commemorate this incident.

Thirty years later, a series of murders suddenly occurred on campus. Natalie, a very opinionated student, believed that the murderer was killing people according to the urban legend. Her friend Brandi, Paul, a journalism student, and Damon, a playful boy, all said that it was pure coincidence. But as things developed, they had to doubt it, and they all became the next target of the murderer.
