story

The setting of "Sabi-Eater Bisco" is Japan, where the "rust wind" that rusts everything blows wildly. People live in fear of the rust that corrodes their cities and lives. Meanwhile, Akaboshi Bisco, a boy from the hated "mushroom guardian" clan, is on a journey in search of the elixir mushroom "Sabi-Eater" that purifies all rust, in order to save his dying master. During his journey, he meets Nekoyanagi Miro, a handsome young doctor in Ihama, who is also searching for a way to deal with the rust that is corroding his precious sister. When the two boys join hands to save their loved ones, a new adventure begins. The central message of this story is that a person's heart does not rust.

Main Characters

Let's take a closer look at the main characters of "Sabi-Eater Bisco."

  • Akaboshi Bisco : A boy with fiery red hair and sharp eyes who is a "mushroom guardian." He is an expert archer who can hit his target with his arrows that are loaded with various mycelium, and can make mushrooms bloom anywhere. He is feared by the nickname "Man-eating Mushroom" and is a wanted criminal with a bounty of 800,000 yen.
  • Nekoyanagi Miro : A handsome young doctor who runs a clinic in Ihama. He is affectionately nicknamed "Dr. Panda" due to the black birthmark around his left eye. He has a natural talent for medicine, and continues to develop medicine by compounding illegal mushrooms in order to save his sister Pawu, who has been infected by Sabitsuki.
  • Nekoyanagi Pau : A female warrior who wields an iron club and Milo's older sister. She is the leader of the vigilante group that protects Ibahama Prefecture, and has physical abilities far beyond those of an ordinary person. Although she suffers from severe "sabitsuki", her willpower is incredible, and she is passionate about justice in order to protect her brother and the town from the mushroom guards.
  • Oochakama Tyrol : A mysterious beautiful girl with striking jellyfish-like pink hair. She is handy and quick-witted, but very stingy with money. She is a member of the Black Leather Guard, but her main job is as a traveling merchant calling herself "Jellyfish Shop." She bumps into Bisco and his friends in various places.
  • Jabi : Visco's master, a former mushroom guardian hero who was known as the Saint Archer. He has been traveling across Japan with Visco for a certain purpose, but he is aware that he does not have much time left, and worries about Visco's future after he is gone.
  • Kurokawa : Governor of Ihama Prefecture. He rules the city with his guards, who wear the mask of a rabbit-faced mascot called "Imi-kun." He plots to get hold of Milo in order to get promoted, and after meeting Bisco, who has come to Ihama, he becomes strangely obsessed with arresting him.
  • Akutagawa : A giant crab of the Iron Crab variety that can carry a person on its back. He is a reliable companion on his journey with Visco and Jabi, and has a particularly strong bond with Visco, almost like brothers. No one can ride it easily except the Mushroom Guardian.
