"Dynasty Warriors" live-action movie IGN 2 points: painful

The live-action movie "Dynasty Warriors" was recently released on Netflix. IGN gave the film a 2-point rating today, saying that the movie was "painful."

IGN Rating: 2 points, extremely painful

Shabby special effects, an incoherent storyline, and terrible acting make the Dynasty Warriors movie yet another failed video game adaptation.

IGN's overall review:

The live-action adaptation of the video game series Dynasty Warriors is a disappointment in every way. While the film clearly pays respect to the original game in terms of aesthetics and narrative, part of the ever-changing medium is that it clings to the rules of the current art form. Director Chow Hin-yeung is deliberately not concerned with this route. As one character explains, heroes emerge only in troubled times. The essence of this chaotic live-action film is not chaos, but nothingness. This is a film that even the hero cannot save.

The movie "Dynasty Warriors" was released in mainland China on May 1, 2021. The film is 117 minutes long and has a Douban score of 4.
