According to relevant reports from Japanese media, the first episode of Season 9 of "The Solitary Gourmet" is expected to be broadcast on July 9, 2021, and the stills of the first episode "The Best Fried Pork Cutlet from a Long-established Shop" have also been released.

"The Solitary Gourmet" is a manga written by Japanese manga artist Masayuki Kusumi and illustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. It was serialized in Monthly PANJA from 1994 to 1996. It was revived in Weekly SPA! on January 15, 2008 and ended in 2015. The TV series began airing in 2012, starring Yutaka Matsushige.

The protagonist of this work is a loner who works in imported furniture and sundries. He eats Japanese and foreign food while negotiating business or visiting relatives and friends in various parts of Japan. In the play, Goro Inogashira originally lived in Paris and had a relationship with his girlfriend Koyuki (played by Maki Meguro), but because Goro Inogashira did not want to get married, the relationship ended and he returned to Japan to continue living alone. Every time he concentrates on thinking about something, he gets hungry easily, so he starts looking for the food he wants to eat. When eating, he always orders a few more dishes to satisfy his taste buds. Because he cannot drink alcohol, he can only drink beverages other than alcohol or smoke.
