The 3DCG animated theatrical version of "Aya and the Witch", which was postponed due to the epidemic, released a new trailer today (June 17) and confirmed the new release date. It will be released in Japan on August 27. Trailer: Earwig and the Witch is produced by Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, directed by Goro Miyazaki, and planned by Hayao Miyazaki. The work is based on the novel Earwig and the Witch by British writer Diana Wynne Jones. The plot describes a little girl living in an orphanage who is adopted by a man and a woman who can use magic. One day, Anya, who lives in an orphanage, meets a couple who want to adopt her. They say they need Anya to be their magic assistant. Thinking that she will have the opportunity to learn magic in the future, Anya agrees to their request. But Anya, who came to the other party's residence, lived a life of dealing with chores every day and did not learn any magic at all. After getting tired of all this, Anya began to want to act according to her own will to fight back against the current life situation. "Aya and the Witch" was originally broadcast as a TV animation on NHK General Channel on December 30, 2020, and was later released in theaters across Japan as a movie animation. It was originally scheduled to be released on April 29, 2021, but was postponed due to the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic. |
