Studio Ghibli's antique tracing machine is finally retired and Hayao Miyazaki signs it

On May 24, animation industry giant Studio Ghibli shared an anecdote from its editorial department. A tracing machine that had been used for many years broke down and was retired because there were no spare parts. This attracted autographs from celebrities including Hayao Miyazaki, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

Studio Ghibli is one of the most famous animation studios in Japan. Founded in mid-1985, it was originally affiliated with Tokuma Shoten and is located in Koganei City, a suburb of Tokyo, Japan. It currently has about 300 employees, led by director Hayao Miyazaki and his colleagues Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. Composer Joe Hisaishi has also produced film music for many of Studio Ghibli's works. The studio logo is its representative work "My Neighbor Totoro".

Although well-known, Studio Ghibli does not have advanced office facilities, but has always maintained a simple and frugal style. This tracing machine, which has been working for who knows how many years, finally stopped working recently. The studio still contacted the manufacturer for repairs, but was told that it had been discontinued and there were no parts, so they decided to retire it. The years of affection attracted many animation masters to come and sign autographs, and Hayao Miyazaki drew a caterpillar to express his gratitude.
