"Godzilla vs. Kong" IGN 7 points/GS 5 points: The giant beast fight is perfect/unremarkable

Godzilla vs. Kong was released in China on March 26 and in North America on March 31. IGN gave it a score of 7 today (March 30), and Gamespot gave it a score of 5. IGN said that the movie was OK, and that the movie gave the monsters a proper reunion and gave the audience what they wanted: a monster battle. Gamespot thought that the movie just showed a battle between a giant lizard and a gorilla, and there was no innovation in the only monster fighting.

The team behind Godzilla vs. Kong knew what this movie was supposed to be, and they delivered on every minute of its two-hour run. It's understandable that humans are overshadowed by these monsters, and this is a glorious love letter to these iconic characters that has a satisfying climax. Hopefully, Godzilla vs. Kong is the start of a new MonsterVerse that will build on that story. And hopefully it won't be more than 50 years before these two crazy kids, Godzilla and Kong, get together again.

Gamespot Rating: 5 points General

If what you are looking forward to is to see a big fight between Godzilla and the handsome guy, then "Godzilla vs. Kong" is definitely worth the money, but other than that the plot doesn't have any highlights and is very lackluster. Finding its merits is as difficult as finding a King Kong on Earth.
