The full name of the "Resident Evil" reboot movie was announced, integrating the plot of the game "Resident Evil 1 and 2"

Today (March 21), according to IGN, the "Resident Evil" reboot movie currently in production is called "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City". At the same time, this reboot movie will have no connection with previous "Resident Evil" movies.

At the recent South by Southwest Film Festival, Johannes Roberts, director of the "Resident Evil" reboot, announced the full name of the film, "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" . "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" is a combined adaptation of the two games "Resident Evil 1 and 2" and will include major characters from the two classic works, such as Chris, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and Leon Scott Kennedy.

"Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" is set in 1998 and tells the story of Raccoon City, which is besieged by infected zombies. The movie will show both the mansion of "Resident Evil 1" and the Raccoon City and police station of "Resident Evil 2". "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" is a new feature-length movie, completely unrelated to the previous series of movies directed by Paul Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich.

Resident Evil reboot director Johannes Roberts

Johannes Roberts, director of the Resident Evil reboot, told IGN: "This is a completely independent origin story based on the horror world of (Capcom's Resident Evil series of games)."

"Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" will be produced by Constantin Film, which is also the production company behind the original "Resident Evil" series of films, but Constantin Film and director Johannes Roberts seem to want to take the origin story of the "Resident Evil" series of films in a new direction.
