The genius cartoonist George Akiyama passed away at the age of 77. His masterpiece "Asura"

Shogakukan announced today on June 1 that George Akiyama, a cartoonist known as a "genius", had passed away on May 12 at the age of 77. His early representative works include "Asura".

George Akiyama, whose real name is Yuji Akiyama, was born in 1943 in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, Tokyo. He debuted as a cartoonist in 1966 with the publication of "Skeleton Man". His early work "Asura" was already mature in thought and was hailed as a "genius". His long-lived masterpiece "Floating Cloud" won many awards and was serialized for 44 years.
