Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" series synopsis revealed: Evil forces rise again

Recently, the foreign site theonering revealed the plot synopsis of Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings" series. The series is currently planned to be released in at least 5 seasons, with 8-10 episodes per season.

Plot summary: Amazon Studios' upcoming series will bring the heroic saga of the Second Age of Middle-earth to the screen for the first time. Set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this epic story will take audiences to a time when great powers are formed, nations rise and fall, unlikely heroes endure hardships, hope hangs on a thread, and Tolkien's most powerful villain threatens to plunge the world into darkness.

The series begins in a time of relative peace and tells the story of a group of new and old faces facing the resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of Lindon, the capital of the Elves, to the breathtaking island nation of Númenor and the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will leave legends and be sung after death.
