Shinji Mizushima, who is known as the master of Japanese baseball comics for his masterpieces such as "The Big Eater", announced his retirement today on December 1. The 81-year-old Shinji Mizushima has been engaged in the comics industry for 63 years.

· Mizushima Shinji is not undeservedly named "Baseball Doctor". Like other cartoonists such as Chiba Tetsuya and Nagai Go, he also owns his own baseball team. The characters in his works are vividly portrayed, and readers can empathize with their experiences. When the handsome young pitcher Satonaka Satonaka, who is loved by girls' comics fans, was injured in the shoulder, he received thousands of cranes wishing him a speedy recovery. On Valentine's Day every year, he can give out more than 600 love letters and chocolates from his admirers. Satonaka Satonaka's charm is so charming that readers have completely immersed themselves in the comics, which shows that Mizushima Shinji's ability to describe characters is amazing.

·The manga "Big Eater" was serialized by Shinji Mizushima in the same magazine since 1972. It was completed in 2018, 46 years later (with a break in between). The series includes chapters such as "Big Eater", "Big Koshien", "Professional Baseball", "Superstar", and "Dream Knockout", which tells the baseball career of the protagonist Taro Yamada and others. The manga has been adapted into animations, games, and other works.
