According to the latest report from GameSpot, the Power Rangers will have new live-action movies and TV series. The new works will be produced by a team led by Jonathan Entwistle, co-creator of Netflix's Not My Expectation. Entwistle will direct these projects in two different ways. “Jonathan has an incredible imagination for this iconic and hugely successful franchise, and he’ll drop everything he’s doing to join us as we reimagine the worlds of film and television,” eOne Film President Nick Meyer and eOne Global Television President Michael Lombardo said in a joint statement. “We look forward to working with the most talented storytellers as we collaborate with Hasbro’s fan-favorite brands and build entertaining worlds around them.” eOne was acquired by Hasbro in 2019, and as this announcement indicates, the company has been working hard to further develop its business. At the same time, they also have a lot of nostalgia for the Power Rangers, which first debuted in 1993 under the name Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. (It is unclear whether these projects will be connected to the 2017 Power Rangers movie.) No details have been released about these new projects yet, but Entwistle called the collaboration "an incredible opportunity" that he hopes to share with the world soon. |
