Tencent's sci-fi drama "The Three-Body Problem: The Dark Forest - Part 1" has been filed and will start filming in July

Recently, the General Office of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television released a notice on the filing of TV series produced nationwide in January 2025. The information shows that Tencent Video will start filming "The Three-Body Problem: The Dark Forest - Part 1". The drama is adapted from Liu Cixin's science fiction novel "The Three-Body Problem: The Dark Forest" and will start filming in July 2025. It is expected to shoot 26 episodes, which will take nearly 20 months.

The plot of "Three-Body: Dark Forest" focuses on the tense confrontation between Earth and the Three-Body civilization. In order to resist the alien fleet, humans implement the "Wallface Plan", build a huge space fleet and develop future technology. Sociology professor Luo Ji and space army officer Zhang Beihai will be key figures who will lead mankind to explore the future of survival through wisdom and courage.
