Marvel's new drama "Ms. Marvel" casts first Muslim superhero

The new Marvel series "Ms. Marvel" to be broadcast on Disney+ has confirmed the heroine, and newcomer Iman Vellani will play the role of Kamala Khan, who is also Marvel's first Muslim superhero. In the comic setting, Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old Pakistani American who was born in New Jersey, USA.

In 2014, Kamala first appeared in the comics. At last year's Disney convention D23, Marvel officially announced three new dramas, "Ms. Marvel," "Moon Knight" and "She-Hulk." Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel Studios, also said that Kamala will appear in a feature film in the future. Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah, the two directors of "Bad Boys for Life," as well as Sharmin Obaid-Chinoy and Mira Menon will all direct some episodes of "Ms. Marvel."

"I think some characters are very suitable for the big screen and look very cinematic. But for Ms. Marvel, we have no interest in making a movie for her. This character has a lot of comic energy, and the live-action process is very challenging. I don’t know how to shoot it so that it doesn’t look weird," said G. Willow Wilson, the original comic author who created "Ms. Marvel".

Kamala's superpowers include being able to change the size of any part of her body at will. She is a potential Inhuman who accidentally gained superpowers through Terrigen mist after a class reunion. She was found by Carol Danvers, then Ms. Marvel, and was given the title of "Ms. Marvel".
