Director Guo Fan confirms: The extended version of "The Wandering Earth" will be released this year

Recently, the 11th China Film Directors Association 2019 Annual Commendation Conference was held. The director of "The Wandering Earth" Guo Fan talked about the release time of the extended version of "The Wandering Earth". Guo Fan said: "It will definitely be released before the end of the year, because it is called "The Wandering Earth: Leap 2020 Special Edition", and it would be wrong to release it in 2021."

According to the project approval announcement of the National Film Administration in March 2020, "The Wandering Earth: Leap 2020 Special Edition" has been approved for filing, and Gong Geer is still the screenwriter. It tells the story of the sun's impending destruction, and humans build a huge propeller on the surface of the earth to find a new home. In a previous interview, Fu Ruoqing, director of Zhonghua Xia, revealed that the extended version of "The Wandering Earth" will add about 10 to 15 minutes of content, and it will not only add end credits and old material, but also have new creations.

The movie "The Wandering Earth" was released in China on February 5, 2019 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), starring Qu Chuxiao, Wu Jing, Li Guangjie and others. The film triggered a viewing craze after its release, with a total box office of 4.686 billion yuan.
