Marvel Studios is not considering changing the cast of Black Panther 2

The death of Chadwick Boseman has left fans and family members in grief, and there is a thorny problem facing Marvel and Disney: What should be done with "Black Panther 2"? According to The Hollywood Reporter: Only a few insiders at Marvel knew that Boseman was fighting cancer. They have not yet considered how to shoot the sequel or even the issue of changing the role, but instead paid tribute to Boseman first.

Marvel Studios Chief Visual Officer Ryan Meinerding drew a picture to thank Chadwick Boseman for his wonderful portrayal of Black Panther for Marvel Studios. Internet photo editing master Bosslogic also released his own tribute picture.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige received an urgent email about Chadwick Boseman on August 28. When Feige read the news, Boseman had passed away. Only Boseman's agent, fitness trainer and partner knew about his fight against cancer, and it was his wish to keep it secret. A source revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that until about a week before his death, Boseman was still planning to prepare for Black Panther 2, and he firmly believed that he could beat cancer.

The filming of Marvel movies usually does not require actors to undergo physical examinations in advance. Major studios will insure the life safety of specific actors, but Boseman's case is rather special and there are few precedents.

Previously, "Fast and Furious 7" had lost Paul Walker, and "Star Wars 8" faced the death of Carrie Fisher, but the situation faced by "Black Panther 2" is more serious: Chadwick Boseman is the soul of the series, and "Black Panther 2" is still in the script stage, and no shots have been shot. Even the situation of "The Crow" by Brandon Lee in 1994 was not so troublesome. Brandon Lee died unexpectedly after shooting most of the shots.

Industry insiders believe that Disney may have two options. The first is to recast the role, which is difficult for both fans and co-stars to accept, and no black male star would be willing to take the role at this time. The other option is to follow the plot of the original comics and let T'Challa's sister Shuri become the new Black Panther.
