Thai protests erupt over re-writing of the theme song of the animated classic Hamtaro to criticize the government

I believe many of you have watched the Japanese classic animation "Hamtaro" with extremely cute characters. Recently, the theme song of this classic animation was rewritten in Thailand and became the theme song of public protest, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

"Hamtaro" is a long-running TV animation that has been broadcast on Tokyo TV since 2000. The protagonist is a golden hamster that is cute in appearance, simple in heart and full of curiosity. Although he and his owner cannot communicate with words, the deep feelings between the two are beyond words.

On July 26, a protest broke out in Bangkok, Thailand. The song that the crowd sang loudly turned out to be the theme song of Hamtaro, which was rewritten to criticize the current government. According to Reuters' on-site report, the lyrics of the original theme song of Hamtaro, "What I like most is the seeds of the sunflower", were changed to "What I like most is the taxes of the people", etc., which triggered heated discussions among netizens.
