The comic series "Marvel's Spider-Man: Fake Red", a collaboration between Marvel and Japanese cartoonist Yusuke Osawa, adapted from last year's PS4 game "Marvel's Spider-Man", has now officially stopped updating. Spider-Man: Red of the Hypocritical was originally serialized on the comic app Manga Pocket, and the timing coincided with the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in Japan. This is a comic project jointly developed by Marvel and Japanese publisher Kodansha, with Marvel responsible for the plot supervision. The settings of the PS4 game Spider-Man were previously only featured in the accompanying mini-comic Spider-Man: Velocity. Originally, Spider-Man: Red: The Hypocrisy was the first time that the game Spider-Man settings appeared in print media. Unfortunately, after a year of serialization, it has now stopped. Cartoonist Yusuke Osawa announced the news on Twitter. He expressed his disappointment at the discontinuation of the comics, explaining that although the first volume of Spider-Man: Red of the Hypocritical sold well, subsequent sales did not meet the expectations of Marvel and Kodansha. In addition, the sales performance of the digital version was not good, so they had to terminate the project and stop updating. Due to poor sales and the cessation of updates, this series of comics may not be released in other languages other than Japanese. It seems that the efforts of the PS4 game "Marvel's Spider-Man" to expand its influence have not been successful for the time being. At present, Insomniac Studio has announced the new PS5 exclusive game "Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles", so the comics, movies, and games of "Marvel's Spider-Man" will continue to be popular and new works will continue to be released. |
