Denny O'Neil, legendary Batman writer, dies at 81

Denny O'Neil, the famous comic book writer who wrote Batman, Arrow and the Question, died today at the age of 81. He was considered one of the greatest comic book writers and editors of all time.

The "Batman" and "Green Arrow" he co-created with his partner Neal Adams added many mythological stories to the DC Universe. He also created characters such as the villain Ra's al Ghul, Jon Stewart, and even collaborated with Marvel to create works such as Spider-Madame and Aquaman.

He helped create many memorable comic book plots, such as the death of Jason Todd, the Red Hood, and oversaw Frank Miller's iconic Daredevil in the 1980s.

In addition to his publishing work, O'Neil taught at Manhattan's School of Visual Arts in the late 90s, teaching a course on "Comic Writers," sometimes sharing duties with fellow comic writer John Ostrander, and was a member of the Hero Project Board of Directors, serving as a cash disbursement committee member.

Denny O'Neil's contributions to the comic book industry have benefited many generations and will continue to be celebrated.
