'Deadpool 3' Director Shawn Levy Reportedly in Talks to Direct 'Avengers 5'

According to foreign media Deadline, Shawn Levy, the director of "Deadpool 3" ("Deadpool and Wolverine"), will be the "first choice" to direct "Avengers 5". Deadline's sources said that Shawn Levy has not given a clear answer to Marvel, and Marvel is also looking for other film producers. However, Shawn Levy has reportedly received Michael Waldron's new script for reference.

In addition, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel had invited Shawn Levy in March this year, but he declined because he was serving as the executive producer and director of the fifth season of Netflix's "Stranger Things", which will continue to be filmed next year. However, the news also stated that Marvel has postponed the release date of "Avengers 5" for a few months to make time for Shawn Levy.

Currently, Shawn Levy has a previously announced "Star Wars" movie in preparation, but there has been no new news about the movie for a long time. The film was previously shelved due to the strike of American screenwriters and actors last year.

Marvel is so eager to sign Shawn Levy, which fully demonstrates Marvel's confidence in its only movie this year, "Deadpool 3". The film will premiere in North America on July 26.
