The director and star of the comedy film "School of Rock" are calling for a sequel

The comedy film "School of Rock", produced by Paramount Pictures, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Jack Black, was originally released in Canada in September 2003 and was nominated for multiple film awards. Jack Black won the Best Comedy Performance Award at the 13th MTV Movie Awards for the film.

More than 20 years after the film was released, director Richard Linklater said he was preparing to shoot a sequel. In an interview with foreign media "Unilad", Linklater said: "Of course, it's been a long time. We discussed this a few years ago. I really want to work with Jack again. There must be a reason for wanting to do this."

Last year, Jack Black, the lead actor, publicly stated that he would reunite the main actors in the film to reunite the band to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the film's release. He naturally also said that he "would like to participate again", but there is a prerequisite, that is, the previous screenwriter Mike White returns to write the script.

When "School of Rock" was released in 2003, it earned $131 million on a budget of $35 million, setting a box office record at the time. The film tells the story of Dewey Finn, an unsuccessful rock singer and guitarist played by Jack Black, who became a substitute teacher and formed a rock band with fourth grade students and won a music competition.
