According to reports, the production team of Amazon's hugely invested online drama "The Lord of the Rings" and the famous Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey have parted ways. Another Tolkien researcher Corey Olsen revealed the news in a live broadcast, but then may have felt that he had spoken out of turn and refused to disclose more details. "All I can say is that it's not that simple, and I don't think 'Amazon just fired Tom Shippey' is an accurate description of the situation." Neither Shippey nor Amazon has commented on this yet. Tom Shippey himself joined Amazon as a focal figure when it officially announced "The Lord of the Rings" project in August 2019. Like Tolkien, he was a professor of Old English at Oxford University. He also participated in the production of "The Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy. He can be said to be a master of Middle-earth. The Lord of the Rings series had originally started filming in New Zealand this year, but filming was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is currently no news on when the series will resume filming. |
