Sam Raimi, the director of the old Spider-Man series, is confirmed to be the director of Doctor Strange 2

According to IGN, in an interview, Sam Raimi, the director of the old "Spider-Man" trilogy, said that he will direct the latest "Doctor Strange 2". The film was originally scheduled to be released in North America on May 7, 2021, but now it has been postponed to November 5.

In the interview, Sam Raimi not only confirmed that he will direct "Doctor Strange 2", but also talked about his love for the role of "Doctor Strange", but "Doctor Strange" is only "ranked fifth" in his list of the best comic characters. Sam Raimi said: "I have liked Doctor Strange since I was a child, but he still ranks behind Spider-Man and Batman in my heart. In my opinion, he is the fifth character in my comic book heart."

Previously, Scott Derrickson, the director of the first "Doctor Strange", withdrew from the director's position due to "creative differences", but he remained as a producer and continued to participate in the production. Sam Raimi's Toby's Spider-Man trilogy is a classic superhero movie. He is also good at shooting thrillers, and "Doctor Strange 2" will have rich thriller elements. In this way, Sam Raimi seems to be a very suitable candidate.
