As the COVID-19 epidemic spreads around the world, the global film industry has come to a standstill, with many films being withdrawn or stopped, leaving fans sad and depressed. But in the face of such a severe test, "Doctor Strange" director Scott Derrickson has given everyone a glimmer of hope, believing that the current situation can make the film better. He wrote on his personal social media: "The postponement of the release dates of these blockbusters will actually increase the overall quality because the crew will have more time to polish the script and scene design." He also cited an example to support his point: "The reason why Blade Runner is so classic is precisely because the American Writers Guild's strike in 1980 and 1981 gave director Ridley Scott and the crew a year to perfect the visual effects in the film." Later, he used his own film "Doctor Strange" as an example in his comments: "We postponed the release date of "Doctor Strange" by five months. If we hadn't done that, we wouldn't have had time to revise the script better or figure out how to shoot the special effects in the film." Unfortunately, however, Scott Derrickson will not continue to direct "Doctor Strange 2". Instead, Sam Raimi, the director of the "Evil Dead" series and the old version of "Spider-Man", will take over. He will have more time to prepare for "Doctor Strange 2", which is expected to be released in North America on November 5, 2021. |
