Steven Yeun regrets withdrawing from Marvel movies due to schedule conflict: Still wants to participate

Yesterday we reported that actor Steven Yeun had withdrawn from the new Marvel film "Thunderbolt" due to scheduling conflicts. The actor has now responded to his withdrawal, confirming that scheduling conflicts were indeed the reason for his departure, but at the same time said that he did not hope that this meant that his journey in the Marvel Universe would end here.

In an interview with Variety, he explained: "I think for me, the passage of time and things changing led to my departure. But I knew (director) Jack Schreier was going to do an incredible job."

Thunderbolts will center around a team of anti-heroes. Although Steven Yeun's role has not been officially announced, Rob Kirkman, the creator of the superhero animation "Wampum," in which he previously voiced the protagonist, revealed that he will play the character "Sentinel." It is unclear whether the character will be recast or deleted from the film.

The actor added: "I would love to be in a Marvel movie. I wrote several drafts of the email to make sure I could sincerely express how sorry I was to have to bow out." When asked what role he would like to play now that the Sentry role is no longer playable, he responded: "I think it's too early to discuss that right now."

“I think I probably pissed off a lot of people by quitting, so I really wanted to say: ‘Thank you for having me’. I have some ideas, but I’ve heard that if you just say it out loud, it’ll never come to fruition, so I’ll keep it to myself.”
