Tom Cruise is one of the most iconic male stars in Hollywood. Although he is over 50 years old, he still insists on performing stunts in the movies. For example, in the previous Mission: Impossible 6: Fallout, Tom Cruise flew a helicopter himself. But in the new film Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise wanted to try to fly an F-18 Hornet fighter, but was rejected by the US Navy. Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of "Top Gun: Maverick", said in an interview with the foreign media "Empire" magazine: "The (U.S.) Navy did not allow him (Tom Cruise) to fly the F-18 fighter." But although he was unable to drive the F-18, Tom Cruise flew a P-51 and a helicopter in "Top Gun: Maverick" to perform many stunts. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said: "He (Tom Cruise) can do almost anything on these planes." Top Gun: Maverick filmed real Navy pilots flying F-18 fighter jets, and these scenes were shot using IMAX cameras in the cockpit. Although Tom Cruise and other leading actors Miles Teller and Glen Powell did not get to fly the F-18 jet fighter as they wished, they did complete what felt like arduous flight training during the filming. "Top Gun: Maverick" has been advanced to June 24th in North America. |
