According to the latest news from the official Weibo of Beijing Court Network, in the case of font infringement in the movie "Nine-story Demon Tower", the Beijing Intellectual Property Court made a second-instance judgment: the appeal of Dreamer Film (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was rejected and the original judgment of the first instance was upheld. After trial, the first-instance court ruled that the four defendants should publicly apologize to the plaintiff Xiang Jiahong and jointly compensate the plaintiff Xiang Jiahong for economic losses of 140,000 yuan.

In September 2016, Xiang Jiahong believed that the props used in the movie "Nine-story Demon Tower" produced by Dreamer Film Company and other four companies, and the use of her own calligraphy works "ghost", "clan", "history", "Hua", "Xia", "day" and "newspaper" in the book "History of the Ghost Clan" and the newspaper "Huaxia Daily" were used without permission and without signature, which infringed her right of signature and reproduction, so she sued the court.

Jingwang Law Courts stated that during the production of the movie "Nine-story Demon Tower", a copy of the work in question was made when making movie props, and during the filming of the movie, the work in question was fixed on the film and could be reproduced, which also formed a copy of the work in question, which was a copying act. This act was not authorized by the right holder, which infringed the copyright's right of reproduction.

The movie "Nine-story Demon Tower" is a masterpiece directed by the famous director Lu Chuan in 2015. The box office of the movie exceeded 700 million yuan. After discovering that the font was infringed, Mr. Xiang said that he had communicated with the above four companies many times, but the other party shirked the responsibility, clearly stated that they were unwilling to take responsibility, and denied the infringement. For this reason, Mr. Xiang sued the court, demanding that the above four companies pay 500,000 yuan in copyright royalties, publicly apologize in newspapers and online media, and claim 10,000 yuan in mental compensation.
