After losing its sixth director, it looks like the Uncharted movie may already have its seventh director - Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fleischer is currently Sony's ideal candidate and the most likely and final director of the project. Fleischer is no stranger to Sony, after all, "Venom" and "Zombieland" are both Sony's movie IPs. So it's not surprising that Sony executives want him to take the lead in the "Uncharted" movie version, although negotiations between the two sides have not yet begun. Last May, Sony established PlayStation Productions, an internal development studio responsible for adapting Sony's games into movies. Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, said: "Rather than licensing our IP to other film studios, we think it's better for us to develop and produce it ourselves. First, we are more familiar with it, and we also know what PlayStation fans love." |
