The US 2019 global box office exceeded 10 billion US dollars, and Disney accounted for nearly 40%

According to recent media reports, the total box office of American films in 2019 exceeded 10 billion US dollars, of which Disney's film box office accounted for about 40% of the American film market.

The report pointed out that the total box office of American movies in 2019 was about 11.26 billion US dollars. Disney's movie box office accounted for about 33% of the total American movie market. Together with the 20th Century Fox Film Corporation acquired this year, it accounted for 38% of the total American movie box office. Disney's closest competitor is Warner Bros., which accounts for 13.8% of the total box office.

In 2018, Disney movies accounted for 26.3% of the U.S. box office. In 2008, Disney movies accounted for only 10.5% of the U.S. box office. Strategic acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm have enabled the company to grow. In 2019, Disney-produced movies earned more than $3.72 billion at the U.S. box office, breaking the record of $3.09 billion set in 2018, making it Disney's highest-grossing year.

Seven of the ten films released under the Disney name were shortlisted for the "top eight highest-grossing films of the year." Spider-Man: Far From Home is the only film in the top eight that was not released by Disney, but was also produced by Disney's Marvel Studios and Sony.
