"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" opened with $129 million worldwide, the highest start in the series

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes: New World" grossed $129 million worldwide in its first weekend, making it the highest-grossing film in the history of the "Planet of the Apes" series, with a budget of only $160 million.

According to data from Maoyan Professional Edition, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes: New World" was released in China for four days and the box office was 82.478 million yuan, which has not yet exceeded 100 million yuan.

In addition, according to the director, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes 4" has 30-40 minutes of deleted scenes, and director Wes Ball hopes to release a director's cut in the future.

"About 30 to 40 minutes of scenes were cut from the movie, because the movie was too long (laughs). It's a pity to delete some of the scenes, but some of them were not used at all. These deleted scenes were originally intended to enrich the story and characters, but they had to be discarded just to make the movie as compact as possible. However, many of the deleted contents will be included in the DVD version or something like that."

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is expected to take in around $55 million in its domestic opening weekend, but the film will soon face stiff competition from another blockbuster, "Mad Max: Fury," which opens on May 24.
