It's actually longer than you think! The original author said that "Game of Thrones" can be filmed for 13 seasons

The classic epic American TV series "Game of Thrones" is currently entering the countdown, and the fantasy adventure that has accompanied the audience for nearly 10 years will also come to an end. However, George R. R. Martin, the author of its prototype "A Song of Ice and Fire", said in the latest interview that "Game of Thrones" can actually be easily filmed for as many as 13 seasons.

"Game of Thrones" is adapted from George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy masterpiece "A Song of Ice and Fire". It is a representative work of American TV series in terms of plot, character setting and scene production. Although fans are unwilling to accept it, the eighth season will eventually be broadcast next year.

George R. R. Martin said, "David (director) and his team wanted the show to end in Season 7 five years ago, but I advocated shooting it to Season 10, but they won in the end." It seems that this short Season 8 was shot purely to end the plot, and it can be regarded as an explanation to George R. R. Martin. As for the distant 13th season, we can only think about it for now.
