The Witcher Season 3 will feature a "heroic farewell" for Henry Cavill

The third season of The Witcher live-action series will be Henry Cavill's last time as Geralt. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Lauren Hissrich said that the upcoming season will give him a proper "heroic sendoff."

“Henry gave so much to the show, so we wanted to honor him appropriately,” Hissrich said. Season 3 wasn’t written specifically to bid farewell to Cavill, but she said the book it’s based on, author Andrzej Sapkowski’s second full-length novel and fourth Witcher novel, Age of Contempt, seemed perfectly suited to the task.

“What’s interesting is that, to me, season three is the closest one-to-one adaptation of the books that we’ve ever done,” Hissrich continued. “Obviously, we can’t adapt every page, but Age of Contempt gave us so many big action sequences, event points, character-defining moments, villain reveals. There was so much going on that we were able to stay very, very true to the books.”

“Geralt’s big turn is abandoning his neutrality and trying to find Ciri by whatever means necessary. To me, that’s the most heroic farewell we could have, even though it’s not written that way in the books. Geralt will have a new goal when he returns in Season 4. It’s going to be a slightly different Geralt than we expected. And that’s an understatement, by the way.”
