Actor Charlie Cox, who starred in Netflix's Marvel superhero series Daredevil, recently said that the new Disney+ series Daredevil: Rebirth will be a different version of the character rather than a direct sequel to the original. Charlie Cox told NME: “My view is that this character works best when it’s aimed at a slightly more mature audience. My gut feeling is that on Disney+ it will be dark, but probably not as gory.” “I would say to the fans of the Netflix version, we’ve already done that style. Let’s take the best of it, but can we expand the scope? Can we attract a younger audience without losing what we know works?” The new series will be broadcast on Disney+, and 18 episodes have been ordered. The series will be written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the creators of Covert Affairs. Vincent D'Onofrio, who played Wilson Fisk in the Netflix version, will also return. Daredevil: Resurgence recently added Michael Gandolfini, an actor from The Saints of Newark, to play an unannounced role. Cox later added: "This has to be a reincarnation, it has to be different, otherwise what's the point of doing this?" He also confirmed that the shooting of the new series will begin in February 2023 and will wrap up in December. |
