Today (August 24), Marvel's Chinese superhero "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" released a new North American trailer, showing many new shots and very cool fighting scenes. "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" will be released in North America on September 3. The film's North American film reviews have been released, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 92% and an MTC score of 70. New trailer: Film critics praised the origin story of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for transcending Marvel's business model to some extent, being very fresh and interesting, and also being Marvel's first foray into fantasy. It draws inspiration from traditional Chinese mythology, and its visual effects and tones are different from previous Marvel films. The film pays tribute to many classic Asian films, and the action scenes are very colorful. Negative reviews pointed out that the first half was wonderful, but the second half returned to Marvel's comfort zone and tended to be mediocre. Some comments: Screenrant: Simu Liu's performance makes him a star, and Shang-Chi gives MCU's new hero a promising future. Nerd Reactor: It has the best fight scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, and it’s one of my favorite martial arts movies to come out of Hollywood. Perri Nemiroff: "A solid coming-of-age story about accepting your past and forging your own path forward, with some really great moments, and a true standout from the Marvel Cinematic Universe." The Gist: It starts off strong, with some spectacular martial arts scenes, but it does fade after that, but it's still visually fascinating. Director Crichton has created an MCU spinoff that successfully feels like its own world. Pop Culture Leftovers: Marvel is back, and Simu Liu is a star! Midwest Film Journal: One of Marvel's messiest attempts. The first half is wonderful, but the second half shrinks back into the comfort zone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. DEADLINE: It’s a re-creation of the Marvel comics that first ran in the 1970s, and it’s fascinating from start to finish. Slant Magazine: Outside of Tony Leung, Shang-Chi doesn’t work. …Shang-Chi on screen, like all the self-doubting Marvel heroes before him, is defined by the “gifted kid” imposter syndrome. |
