"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is Marvel's successful introductory film that introduced Asian superheroes to the MCU. It also presents the best martial arts scenes in MCU movies and one of the most emotional and complex villains.

IGN's overall review:

Director Destin Cretton deftly connects Shang-Chi’s personal values to the larger MCU through an emotionally complex villain, a cast with fantastic chemistry, and a series of incredible action scenes. The visual effects of the film’s magical world, such as the scenes of K’un-Lun (Sleeping Dragon Valley), could be more unified, and the lack of telling of Shang-Chi’s legend in the plot is unsatisfying, as if it was intentionally revealed in a later MCU film (keeping it a secret). But these shortcomings are not outweighed by the excellent performance of the rest of the film. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings carefully avoids the usual Asian cultural expectations of Asian Americans, which is to deal with the sad past by forgiving generations of sins and taking responsibility for them, and then shows a future world where fate and choice can coexist.

Gamespot 8 points

+ Breathtaking fighting scenes

+A cast with amazing chemistry

+ Tony Leung Chiu Wai's performance as a man of letters and martial arts is very eye-catching

+ Shows some new concepts that can be explored in future MCUs

-Top-heavy, feels like a rushed piece

- There are too many scenes with product placement, which is annoying to watch.

-Compared to the excellent fighting scenes in the film, the final CG ending is a disappointing plot fulcrum
