IGN only gave HBO's "Watchmen" a 6-point debut: The interpretation of white supremacy is a half-baked one

HBO x DC's original series "Watchmen" was officially aired on October 21. When the rating was lifted, Gamespot gave it a super high score of 9 points, but IGN only gave it 6 points after its premiere, saying that the show was okay. IGN said: "This first episode of HBO's original new "Watchmen" created a perfect world, but this episode's interpretation of white supremacy is half-baked."

IGN: Damon Lindelof's new HBO Watchmen has revived interest in his fan fiction The Case for Reparations by Ta-Nehisi Coates, but it has a long way to go to reach the impact of that work. The new show creates the right atmosphere and all the right ideas, from white supremacy to police overreach, but presents them in a messy way. This mess can certainly be dealt with in future episodes. But for now, the first episode of the show feels more like a prologue that hints at implications than a coherent story to tell.
