The Netflix version of "The Witcher" TV series adapted from the original novel will be officially launched on December 20. IGN also released an exclusive interview with Henry Cavill, who plays the protagonist Geralt, today, talking about some details of the on-set shooting, such as how he decided what kind of voice to use to restore Geralt's nature. Cavill said that at first his accent was similar to his natural accent, but he soon realized that this was not in line with Geralt's setting. "I have to show the real face of Geralt to the outside world, and this can't be the flowery words he uses when talking to the king, queen and other nobles." The British-born actor praised Doug Cockle's iconic voice acting performance in The Witcher 3, and also praised Peter Kenny, who voiced the English audiobook version of the novel. But in the end, Henry Cavill found the best voice in himself, close to Cockle's. "…I listened to Doug Cockle's admirable performance in The Witcher 3 on repeat, as I personally have played The Witcher 3 for a long time. I realized that I could use a similar approach to create Geralt's iron appearance through a similar voice. I also didn't intend to use an American accent, so I mixed my natural accent with the husky tones that Doug uses. My husky voice sounds deeper, while Cockle's is closer to the whisper range. I believe this brings out the essence of Geralt." Netflix's "The Witcher" will be officially released on December 20th. |
