The most expensive American TV series "Lord of the Rings" has been renewed for the second season before the first season started

Amazon has renewed the second season of The Lord of the Rings, even though the first season has not yet been confirmed! The first season cast includes Will Poulter (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), Makayla Kavanagh, Joseph Mawler (Game of Thrones), etc. Juan Antonio Bayona (Jurassic World 2) will direct several episodes, Patrick McKay and John D. Payne will develop the script, and Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones) will serve as a series consultant.

The series is set in the Second Age, also known as the Age of Númenor. The Second Age saw the development of the elven city of Rivendell, the forging of the famous One Ring by the Dark Lord Sauron, and the unity of the Elves, Men, and Dwarves in the fight for it. This spans approximately 3,441 years, so there are a lot of potential stories.

Amazon's TV series "Lord of the Rings" is currently in pre-production and is expected to start filming in Auckland, New Zealand in the next few months. It will have five seasons, with the first season having 20 episodes and a total investment of $1 billion, which exceeds the investment of the film trilogy. It also beat "Game of Thrones" (costing about $15 million per episode) and became the most expensive American TV series in history.
