Marvel President Kevin Feige: We are lucky to be acquired by Disney

When talking about Marvel now, fans always think of Disney, the financial backer behind Marvel. In 2009, Disney officially acquired Marvel. Since then, some fans have said that Disney "ruined" Marvel and its IPs, but Marvel boss Kevin Feige obviously disagrees. In an interview last Sunday, he bluntly said that Disney's willingness to acquire Marvel was "the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to Marvel."

"If Disney hadn't bought us, you wouldn't have seen all these Marvel movies over the years. Of course, I personally don't think that would have been possible."

Kevin Feige went on to explain that Disney gave Marvel a "home" that allowed them to focus on the work at hand without any worries. This relationship is completely different from previous collaborations with other studios, distributors, and marketers.

“When that ‘home’ becomes the Disney group that is 100% invested in what you do, it means a lot to us, especially before the success we have today. When you have someone like Bob Iger (Disney CEO) who is willing to spend a lot of money to invest in success, we really feel like we have great people at the helm.”

From a business perspective, Disney's $4 billion acquisition of Marvel in 2009 can now be seen as a successful investment. The fourth phase of the Marvel Universe will begin to debut next year, and I'm sure it will continue to write the legend of Disney and Marvel.
