Ang Lee talks about high frame rate movies: 120 frames is the future, I hope to be 20 years younger

After directing classic feature films such as "Sense and Sensibility" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", director Ang Lee has focused on science and technology experimental films in recent years. Although the pursuit of technology is not always well received, Ang Lee recently said in an interview with foreign media that he is willing to accept criticism if he can continue to push the limits of filmmaking technology.

"High frame rate" technology is the key word in Ang Lee's recent works, but the response was not as good as expected. "I was defeated by the audience, which is hard for me to accept. I want to prove that I am right." Ang Lee firmly believes that 120 frames is the future. At the same time, he also admitted that when high frame rate is combined with 3D, the project is more difficult, and he spent "90% of his energy" on technical issues.

Lee also needs to face the decline of energy brought by aging. "Energy, endurance and freshness are related to youth. When I saw this technology, my first thought was that I wished I was 20 years younger. But I have to keep working hard. I am passing the torch to the next generation of filmmakers."

Ang Lee's latest work, "Gemini Man", also adopted the high-tech specifications of 120 frames + 4K + 3D, and is scheduled to be released in China on October 18.
